Common situations
When workplace mediation can help
Mediation works best as early intervention — before situations reach formal grievance procedures or employment tribunal.
Bullying and harassment
Addressing allegations of inappropriate workplace behaviour through a structured, independent process.
Manager–employee tension
Restoring trust and working relationships between line managers and their direct reports.
Grievance and disciplinary
An informal route to resolve complaints — often faster and less damaging than formal procedures.
Restructuring and redundancy
Managing interpersonal conflict that surfaces during organisational change or restructuring.
Communication breakdown
Rebuilding dialogue when colleagues or teams have stopped communicating effectively.
Performance disputes
Resolving disagreements about performance expectations and management approaches.
Why early intervention makes sense
Protecting mental health and supporting a safe return to work
A work issue doesn't stay as a work issue. It follows you home and consumes your life.
Workplace conflict is one of the single biggest drivers of stress, anxiety, and long-term sickness absence. When a working relationship breaks down, it stops people from being able to do their jobs. Early mediation helps by:
Reducing stress
Creating a safe, neutral space where everyone feels genuinely heard.
Supporting returns to work
Providing a gentle bridge to resolve underlying tension before a sick-absent employee steps back into the building.
Preventing escalation
Bypassing formal grievances and lengthy HR procedures that often make mental health struggles worse.

Common questions
Your Workplace Mediation Questions, Answered
What actually happens during mediation?
We start with an introductory call to get to know a little about each other and sign the Agreement to Mediate. This is a few days before the full day session so that everything is clear and transparent. On the full mediation day, we begin private, individual 1-to-1 sessions so everyone can speak their mind in total confidence. Once we understand the core issues, we can bring both parties together where we establish boundaries, talk through the tension, and co-create a practical action plan to move forward. We only do this when both parties are comfortable.
How much does workplace mediation cost, and what is included?
The Investment is £1,275 (No VAT). This fixed fee is completely all-inclusive and covers: Understanding the conflict issue Introductions with both parties - An online call (30 – 60 mins) to get to know each other and describe what the day of mediation will look like and alleviate any concerns All parties sign the Agreement to Mediate Full joint day (in-person or via secure Zoom breakout rooms) with documented agreement on how they will work together going forwards 30-day follow-up review
What happens if a participant pulls out before the joint day?
We offer a no-risk budget commitment to HR. If a participant decides to withdraw or the mediation can't proceed past the individual preparation stage, you will only be invoiced £285. You never risk paying for a joint resolution day that doesn’t take place.
How long does the workplace mediation process take?
It is fast and structured. The introductory calls can be booked within a few days and the full joint session can happen within a week (subject to calendars). Compare this to a formal grievance process which frequently takes weeks or months to finalise, leaving your team in limbo. The entire Nomad framework is completed swiftly so everyone can move forward.
Is workplace mediation confidential?
Absolutely. Everything discussed remains private and completely "without prejudice". It cannot be used in future grievance or employment tribunal procedures, giving everyone the psychological safety to speak honestly.
Do we need to book an external venue?
If choosing an in-person mediation day, you will need two separate, completely private rooms away from daily distractions so both parties have a safe space to retreat to. Alternatively, we can host the entire process virtually via secure Zoom breakout rooms, which is completely free of travel expenses.
Who attends the workplace mediation session?
Only the individuals directly involved in the conflict and Amy, the mediator. Because mediation relies on open, honest, and direct dialogue to rebuild a relationship, it is a private space. Line managers or HR do not sit in on the session, though they are involved in the setup and receive the final agreed action plan, only if the participants consent.
What if one party is reluctant to take part?
Mediation is entirely voluntary; it cannot be forced. However, reluctance usually comes from fear of being blamed or cornered. During our introductory call and the morning 1-to-1 sessions, we spend time lowering the temperature, explaining the safety of the "without prejudice" environment, and ensuring both parties feel in control. We only bring people into the same room when both individuals are completely comfortable.
What happens if we don’t reach a full agreement?
Even if a final document isn't signed, the process is never a waste. It almost always improves communication, clears up deep misinterpretations, and provides a much clearer view of the next structural steps needed to move forward constructively.
Is the final agreement legally binding?
No. The action plan is a "goodwill agreement" built on mutual respect and commitment. Because the participants create the terms themselves rather than having a solution imposed on them, they are statistically far more likely to stick to them long-term.
