Youth Housing and Homelessness Mediation

Supporting Young People Towards Stability and Safety

We believe every young person deserves safety, stability and a future they feel proud of. When relationships break down, at home, with caregivers, landlords or in supported accommodation, housing insecurity can follow quickly.

Keeping Young People Connected to Support

Our role is to step in early, reduce conflict and help young people stay connected to the support they need.

Mediation offers a calm, structured way to rebuild communication before things escalate.  It gives young people, families or landlords a safe space to talk things through, helping everyone avoid the stress, pressure and cost that can come with legal routes.

Grounded in Lived Experience

Our approach isn’t shaped from a distance, it comes from years of frontline youth work, the lived experience of being a foster carer, and my time supporting young people as a Youth Employment Mentor with Doorway, a charity working with 16–25 year olds in Warwickshire who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Trauma-Informed and Flexible

Alongside this, our practice is trauma informed, recognising the impact instability, conflict and past experiences can have on how a young person communicates and copes. We work gently, at the young person’s pace, and with an understanding of the systems they may already be navigating.

We also offer flexible mediation options, online, in person or through multiagency collaboration, so young people can access support in a way that feels safe, comfortable and realistic for their situation.

How mediation could have changed my situation

"When I was kicked out of home at the age of 18, I had nowhere to go, which had a large impact on my social life, my mental health and my physical health from not having appropriate support. I believe mediation would have helped massively at this time as it would have allowed for issues to be solved and rectified prior to them becoming major and would have helped me avoid being homeless. I also believe all the parties involved in the situation would have benefited from being able to talk things out and come to a compromise in a successful manner with help, instead of ending up going no contact for an extended period of time. My situation may not be like yours, but I believe mediation has a chance to help solve all issues at the start instead of letting them fester and get worse. It's a worthwhile thing to attempt before any finalities are put into place."
